Melanie Zuch, MSW Candidate

Melanie Zuch is a therapist-in-training and ICF-certified coach who works with adults navigating career burnout, life transitions, relationship challenges, family dynamics, trauma, and identity exploration. Having built careers in law, coaching, and now psychotherapy, Melanie understands the pressures of high-achieving environments and the courage it takes to redefine success on your own terms. She brings both professional expertise and lived perspective to her work, creating a warm, collaborative, and down-to-earth space where clients feel safe to slow down, deepen self-understanding, and build lives that feel more aligned with their values.

Throughout every stage of her career, Melanie has been guided by a passion for helping people navigate change with greater insight, resilience, and authenticity. Her path to becoming a therapist was shaped by her work as a public interest attorney, where she discovered that she was most drawn to the human stories behind every case—the opportunity to build trusting relationships, understand people's experiences, and support them through profound uncertainty and change. That calling ultimately led her to psychotherapy.

Melanie's approach integrates psychodynamic therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Motivational Interviewing, combining meaningful insight with practical tools for change. She believes therapy is most powerful when clients feel genuinely seen, understood, and empowered to strengthen relationships, heal from past experiences, and move forward as their most authentic selves.

Before pursuing clinical social work, Melanie worked as an ICF-certified coach and law school career advisor, helping students and professionals navigate career transitions, burnout, and questions of identity and purpose. Earlier in her career, she represented immigrants and survivors of persecution, trafficking, and abuse as a public interest attorney—experiences that continue to inform her trauma-informed, culturally humble, and relational approach to care.

Melanie earned her BA in Development Studies from Brown University and her JD from Harvard Law School. She is currently completing her Master of Social Work (MSW) at the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College, where she is continuing her training in evidence-based, relational psychotherapy.
